About the Artist

David Phillips oil paintings reflect his life growing up in Appalachia.  The representational works reflect his appreciation of the profound beauty of Nature. His paintings of dramatic skies, majestic waterfalls, or peaceful country scenes are an expression of a vision of nature, spirit and light as seen through the lens of his life experiences.  He has been a longtime admirer of the Hudson River School painters’ approach to their craft, and their humble appreciation of the Divine element in nature. There is a simple beauty that exists in all things; we only need to learn to see it.

David resides in Elkins, West Virginia, with frequent trips to north Georgia. He is a member of Suwanee Arts Center, the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association and the Southern Appalachia Artist Guild, and Artistry on Main Gallery WV.
